Similarities and differences of the 2 extracts.
The differences are that one extract is from the 1990's and the other is from the 1940's both of the two extracts have different target audience, one aims for little kids to watch as it is an adventure and comedy genre, the second movie which is called the "grapes of wrath" is aimed at adults and elderly people who like farmers. Also they have something similar between them as they both have quite the same cinematography used within the two extracts which show the affects of the movie. Another thing which is different is that the 1940's movie is black and white on the other hand the 1990's movie is in colour which both connote that in the old times they didn't make colour movies but over the years it developed.

Home alone was made in the 1990's its quite a old movie. Which is based on a 9 year old boy who gets left at home by himself (home alone).
The way their is snow outside the window connotes that this film was made in the winter time around Christmas. The lighting used for this movie is high key lighting because it only has a bit of shadows but most of it is back lighting. The typography used in these film poster connotes that the movie was made in Christmas as the red connotes the Christmas colour and also it stands out on the poster. Their is a close-up shot used for the boys face this lets us see his facial expressions and makeup, it connotes the emotions seen on the person face. The boys facial expressions connotes the fear on his face and that he is frightened.
However as you can see on the background their are two guys behind the window. Their is a medium shot used for the guy on the left, this lets us see him from his waist and above, the audience can see what type of guy he is just by looking at his clothes and facial expressions. He has a evil expression on his face which connotes the audience to think he is a villan and this connotes why the boy is frightened. Also the way he is dressed connotes that the season in the movie is winter and also it shows that he is a old person. Furthermore their is also another close-up used for the guy on the right behind the boy. Which shows us his facial-expressions and how he looks. In the movie poster he looks angry and shocked which connotes that their is something going on. Overall their are various types of shots used in this poster.

This movie was made 72 years ago, and was filmed in a very old farming place. The movie is set their because the story is based on a guy who lives in a small town. The shot used in this film poster in medium shot of the man. This connotes the audience to straight away know that he is the main character of the movie. This shot allows the audience to analyse the mans facial expressions, and by seeing the facial expressions we can easily tell how he is feeling and what he is going through. Also in this shot we can see what the man is wearing, this lets us see what background he has come from by the type of clothes he is wearing. In this case the man is wearing farming clothes which connotes he does farming in his hometown. However as you can see his facial expressions show that he is not happy and lonely this connotes the audience on wanting to know more about his life and what the story line is behind this movie which would make the audience want to go and watch it.
Furthermore the typography used in this poster is quite an old font which makes can easily tell that this movie is really old now. Also their is a low key lighting used in this poster as their is a lot of shadows behind the man, also high key-lighting is also used as the light is slightly coming from above.
Also as you can see the movie extract is in black and white which connotes that is an really old movie, also the way they are dress connotes that they are from a small town where they have to do a lot of work and the audience can straight away analyse the personality of the people, also their is a panning movement
